What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a health care system which emphasises the prevention of diseases, whilst encouraging optimal health through modern scientific methods merged with traditional knowledge.

The following principles encompass the philosophies of naturopathic medicine:

  1. The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): The human body possesses an innate ability to heal itself and naturopathic treatment is about identifying and removing obstacles hindering this self-healing process.

  2. Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam): Naturopaths aims to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness instead of just treating symptoms.

  3. First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere): Naturopaths always avoid harming the patient by using the least force to treat,

  4. Doctor as Teacher (Docere): The therapeutic potential of a healthy practitioner-patient relationship is maximised. Naturopaths educate patients to help them make the right choices for their health. Self-responsibility for health is greatly encouraged.

  5. Treat the Whole Person: Not only are the obvious symptoms addressed. Each person is assessed as a whole, and individual physical, emotional, mental, genetic environmental and spirtitual factors are considered.

  6. Prevention: Working on preventing illness is always better than treating an illness. Risk factors for disease susceptibility are addressed.

How does Kimberly treat?

As a naturopath and nutritionist I employ herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, dietary therapy, counseling, and homeopathic medicines as a part of treatment protocols.

Consultations are detailed and thorough, whereby I spend time understanding your health history and current health, dietary and lifestyle habits, along with your family history. A treatment plan is formulated based on your individuality, your present state of health and your health goals.

Integrated pathology testing may also be conducted if necessary. This may include tests for blood, stool, urine, or saliva.

What can be treated?

My main areas of expertise includes, but is not limited to:

- Reproductive health (hormones, infertility, women's health)

- Digestive complaints and food intolerances

- Detoxification and  healthy weight management

- Skin conditions

- Mood disorders

- Allergies

- Cardiovascular health

- Nervous system and mood disorders

- Stress and fatigue

- Children and infant health

- Men's health

Treatment will require me to work closely with you in order to restore vibrant health effectively.

The aim is to treat gently, deeply, and permanently.

What does treatment involve?

I will formulate an individualised treatment protocol based on your specific health goals. There is an emphasis on the importance of food as medicine, therefore dietary therapy is a large part of treatments. In conjunction with diet, I also utilise herbal and nutritional medicines to rectify deficiencies, balance hormones, optimise organ and systems function, aid with stress, increase energy, improve digestion and more. There may also be an aspect of holistic counseling during consultations.

My philosophy about health revolves around the idea that emotional imbalances underly a majority of physical ailments . I am also able to create personalised flower essence remedies to fit your current emotional state to aim in order to bring this aspect of health into balance.
